Bread pakoda (not fried), broccoli with ranch

Bread pakoda (not fried) : I used honey whole wheat bread. Cut the slices into strips. Mix all the ingredients - 1 cup of besan (garbanzo beans flour), salt, red chili powder, ovaa (known as - ajwain, ajwan, ajowan, omam, caraway seeds). Add water and whisk it to a little thinner than pancake batter consistency. Dip the bread strips into the batter and cook it from both sides on the nonstick pan with little oil. [just like french toast]
with ketchup.
blanched broccoli with ranch.
I added few grapes in the lunch box after taking picture.

Bagel with cream cheese, broccoli with ranch, garbanzo beans, cherries, blueberries

Anything smiling at Roo makes her smile...She made the blueberry smile by herself. the blueberries on the top are the hairs. Its fun to pack lunchbox with kids.
Bagel - toasted Honey whole wheat bagel with cream cheese. Hummus, chutneys, jams, jelly, cheese / tofu spreads work well with bagel.
Blanched broccoli with ranch and cooked garbanzo beans.
Fresh cherries and blueberries on the side.
Quarter of Bagel and all garbanzo beans were back...I snacked on it...with my evening coffee.

Old West Ranch Style Barbecue Sauce

On our recent trip to Tombstone, one of the souvenirs I picked up was a cookbook called Cowboy Cookin'.

After browsing through the recipes, which I'm hoping to try soon, I came upon this one for Barbecue Sauce and it immediately caught my eye.  Having some ribs to cook for dinner I thought that it would be the perfect time to try this sauce.

It has to cook for 2 hours, so if you're making it for dinner, be sure to start it early in the morning.

1 cup molasses
1 medium onion
1/2 cup butter or bacon drippings (I used butter)
2 large cans of tomatoes
1 tablespoon dry mustard
1/3 cup of vinegar
4 cloves of garlic (mashed)
1 teaspoon salt

Combine all ingredients in a large sauce pan.

Bring to a full boil over medium heat stirring occasionally.  Reduce to a low heat.  Cover and cook for about 2 hours, stir occasionally, until sauce has thickened and all ingredients are well blended.  Sauce will turn very dark.

Apply to rib-eye steaks or ribs as required.

Note:  It doesn't tell you to do this, but I used my immersion blender to puree everything.
